Hand-cut paving
Hand-dressed paving units in Kota, Mandana, Kandla Grey and basalt. The most durable stone surface per rupee we produce — and the most sustainable, because it is cut from material a slab line would waste.
Why cobbles
A cobbled surface does things a slab floor cannot. Every unit is independent, so ground movement and thermal expansion are absorbed in the joints instead of cracking the stone. Damage is repaired by lifting and replacing single pieces, not a whole bay. And because each cobble is hand-split, the top face has genuine texture — grip that comes from the stone itself rather than a coating that wears away.
They are also the most economical way to buy natural stone paving. Cobbles are cut from offcut and short-bed material that a slab line cannot use, which is why the rate per square foot is low and why nothing from the block goes to waste.
Colours
Those are the two colours we cut and hold. Blue is the cooler blue-grey; brown runs from honey through to tan. Both are the same limestone off the same beds — the colour is the bed, not a treatment.
Most of what leaves the yard is one or the other laid as a single-colour field. The more interesting option is to mix them deliberately: a blue field with brown scattered through it, or a brown drive with a blue banding course. Tell us the split you want and we will load it that way rather than leaving your mason to sort it on site.

The hard option
Where the loading is genuinely heavy — commercial forecourts, transit areas, anywhere lorries turn — basalt is the cobble that does not care. It is close to three times the compressive strength of Kota, it is effectively non-porous, and salt and de-icing chemicals do nothing to it.
It costs more, and on a garden path that would be money wasted. On a plaza that has to look the same in twenty years it is the cheapest thing on the page.
The range

Hand-cut from offcut and short-bed Kota, in blue and brown. Naturally riven top face with real grip, and the most economical stone paving unit you can buy.
Best for: Driveways, paths, courtyards, ramps

The hardest cobble we make. Where vehicle loading, salt or heavy public traffic would break a softer sett, basalt simply does not.
Best for: Plazas, transit areas, commercial forecourts
Sizes
Pieces per square metre are approximate and assume a 8–10 mm joint. Order 8–10% over your measured area for cutting and breakage.
| Module | Imperial | Depth | Coverage | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 × 100 mm | 4″ × 4″ | 40 – 60 mm | ~83 pcs/m² | The universal cobble. Paths, drives, fans |
| 100 × 200 mm | 4″ × 8″ | 40 – 60 mm | ~43 pcs/m² | Setts. Herringbone, stretcher bond, kerb runs |
| 50 × 50 mm | 2″ × 2″ | 40 – 50 mm | ~278 pcs/m² | Fine mosaic work, tight radii, detailing |
| 200 × 200 mm | 8″ × 8″ | 50 – 60 mm | ~23 pcs/m² | Large-module drives and courtyards |
| 100 × 300 mm | 4″ × 12″ | 50 – 60 mm | ~29 pcs/m² | Linear banding and border courses |
| Random / crazy | Irregular | 25 – 50 mm | By area | Crazy paving, stepping stones, rustic paths |
| Kerb stones | To drawing | 100 – 150 mm | Per running metre | Road and path edging, channel work |

Cobble stock at the yard. Hand-cut from offcut and short-bed material — which is why nothing from the block is wasted and the rate per square foot stays low.
On site
Cobbles fail for one reason: an inadequate base. The stone itself is effectively indestructible, so if a driveway settles or rocks, the sub-base was wrong.
