The material
What Mandana sandstone is
Mandana is a hard, close-grained natural sandstone quarried at Mandana in Kota district, roughly thirty kilometres from our unit. It is considerably denser than most Indian sandstones, and that density is why it survives outdoors where softer, shale-heavy stones spall and delaminate.
Its defining property is that the colour goes all the way through the body. A chip, a saw cut, a drilled anchor hole — all show the same red or brown as the face. There is no surface skin to wear off, and it does not fade under sun. For exterior paving, cladding and heritage restoration, that is worth a great deal.
Being silica-based rather than calcareous, Mandana is also far more acid-tolerant than a limestone. It shrugs off the cleaners that would etch a polished Kota floor, which makes it the more practical specification in kitchens, industrial areas and anywhere the maintenance regime cannot be guaranteed.
One stone, finished four ways — Red Mandana as it comes off the bed, honed to a soft matte, mirror polished to a full gloss, and diamond polished in random slabs and 22″ × 22″ squares.

Dimensions are nominal. Calibrated material is held to ±1 mm on thickness; cut-to-size work to ±1 mm on length and width.
Kota or Mandana?
How to choose between the two.
They overlap, but not entirely. The short version is that Kota is the harder-wearing floor and Mandana is the more weather- and chemical-stable exterior material.
- Choose Kota for interior flooring, heavy foot and trolley traffic, mirror-polished work, and anywhere you want the lowest cost per square foot.
- Choose Mandana for exterior paving and cladding, heritage and temple work, acidic or industrial exposure, and anywhere you want warm through-body colour that will not fade.
- Either works for courtyards, boundary walls, steps and landscape paving — at that point it is a colour decision.

What is Mandana stone?
Mandana is a hard, fine-grained red sandstone quarried at Mandana, barely thirty kilometres from our unit. Its colour runs right through the stone rather than sitting on the surface, so it does not fade, which is why it has been the Rajasthan elevation and temple stone for centuries.
Is Mandana stone suitable for outdoor use?
Yes — it is one of the better Indian stones outdoors. It is dense, it holds its colour in sun, and it takes weather well. Use it natural, honed or sandblasted outside; keep the mirror and diamond polish for interior work where the gloss will survive and grip does not matter.
What finishes is Mandana available in?
Natural, honed, mirror polish and diamond polish, in random slabs and 22″ × 22″ squares. Honed gives a soft matte that shows the pink-red tone without shine; mirror polish takes it to full gloss and deepens the colour substantially.
Will the colour match across a phased order?
Only if we plan for it. Mandana varies bed to bed, so a second delivery cut months later from different stock will not match — and on an elevation that is a visible problem you cannot fix. Tell us the total quantity at the start and we will cut and reserve from one bed.
