Hand-cut paving units

About Kota Stone Cobbles

We cut Kota cobbles in blue and brown. Those are the two colours we hold in cobble stock, and they are usually laid either as single-colour fields or mixed deliberately, which is where the material is at its best — the blue reads cool and the brown warm, and a mixed field has a depth that a single tone cannot reach.

Cobbles are cut by hand from offcut and shorter-bed material, which makes them both the most sustainable thing we produce and one of the most durable. Each piece has a naturally riven top face with real grip, so they hold up on ramps and slopes where a sawn slab would be a liability in the monsoon.

Standard units are 100×100 mm and 100×200 mm at 50–60 mm depth, but the hand-cutting means we can run almost any module you specify. For driveways we recommend 60 mm minimum on a compacted sub-base; for pedestrian paths and garden work 40–50 mm is sufficient.
