Brown Kota runs from pale honey to a deep tan with occasional ochre veining. It is the warm option, and it is the one that sits best against brick, terracotta and timber.

About Brown / Honey Kota Stone
Brown Kota weathers beautifully. Left in a natural or rock-faced finish outdoors, it develops a soft patina rather than staining, and the warm base tone hides dust in a way grey never will — which is why it is a common choice for driveways, garden paths, plinth cladding and courtyard paving in dusty climates.
Tonal variation is part of the material. Within a single consignment you will see honey, tan and light chocolate pieces, and the range is what gives a laid floor its depth. If you need a tight, uniform tone we can sort to a narrower band, but it reduces yield and we will tell you what that does to the rate before you commit.
One thing worth knowing before you judge it from a photograph: dry, unpolished brown Kota reads much paler than you expect. In the yard, in full sun, a stack of honed 22″ brown looks dusty buff rather than honey. Wet it, oil it or polish it and the warm tone comes straight back up. That is normal for the stone and it is the single most common reason a first-time buyer thinks a delivery is the wrong colour.

Brown Kota, mirror polished, 22″ × 22″.
Polishing does something to brown Kota that it does not do to grey or green: it pulls the honey and ochre right up out of the stone. Dry and unpolished it reads dusty tan; mirror-polished it goes a deep, warm amber-gold.
- Warm amber-gold under polish — the closest thing in the Kota range to a golden limestone, at a fraction of the imported price.
- 22″ × 22″ standard, 3.36 sq ft a piece, about 30 pieces per 100 sq ft. 23″ and 24″ to order.
- Edge-protected packing — polished faces are foam-separated and corner-taped, because a polished edge chip cannot be hidden.
- Dry interiors only. Polished brown outdoors will dull and it is slippery wet. For terraces specify natural or leather.

The honed version is the one we move most of, and it is a completely different proposition to the polish. Ground flat to a low-sheen matte: no glare, no slip, and it takes a scuff without announcing it.
Look at those photographs and you will notice the stone reads pale. That is honest and it is worth explaining. Dry, honed, in full sun, brown Kota looks dusty buff rather than honey — and every first-time buyer who has not been told this thinks the wrong stone turned up. Wet it, oil it or polish it and the warm tone comes straight back. If you are choosing between honed and polished brown, wet a corner of the sample and look at both.

22″ × 16″, mirror polished.
Alongside the 22″ square we hold brown in a 22″ × 16″ mirror-polished format — 559 × 406 mm, 2.44 sq ft a piece, roughly 41 pieces to 100 sq ft.
It is a useful module. The rectangle lays out in a brick or stack bond without the offcut waste you get forcing a square into a long room, and at 2.44 sq ft the pieces are light enough for one man to set comfortably all day.
